SUSTAINABILITY
Our commitment to
the future is sustainable
Sustainability is implemented on a day-to-day basis through concrete measures that form part of our operational routine.
Sustainability is integrated into Meigal’s daily operations.
We work to reduce the environmental impact of our activities through practical decisions, responsible investments and continuous improvements to our processes.
We believe that sustainability is built through concrete actions, from the way we transport products to the small gestures that are part of everyday life in our distribution centres.
ECO-TARAS
The Eco-Taras project aims to reduce packaging consumption in food distribution through the reuse of transport boxes.
How does it work?
The boxes used to deliver products must be returned after use, entering a reuse cycle so they can be used again for future deliveries.
To ensure the boxes are returned and to prevent losses, a charge is applied for failure to return them, encouraging responsible use by clients.
This model allows:
• Reducing the need to produce new boxes
• Reducing the amount of waste generated
• Making the logistics operation more efficient and sustainable
ELECTRIC FLEET
Meigal is progressively investing in the electrification of its fleet, integrating electric vehicles into its transport and distribution operations.
This transition enables a reduction in CO₂ emissions, a decrease in reliance on fossil fuels and an improvement in the operation’s energy efficiency, contributing to a reduction in the environmental footprint associated with transport.
This commitment translates into more efficient logistics, in line with the current challenges of sustainable mobility.
REDUCTION OF TRIPLICATE INVOICES
The Reduction of Triplicate Invoices project aims to reduce the environmental impact associated with invoicing processes. Reducing the number of printed copies has already led to a significant reduction in paper consumption.
This is an ongoing process, with the future aim of transitioning to 100% digital invoicing, making processes more efficient and sustainable.
Small gestures,
big impacts
DAILY ROUTINES
Sustainability is also built into daily routines.
At distribution centres, simple and effective practices are implemented as part of normal operations, such as:
• Separating and recycling waste
• Regular cleaning and maintenance of vehicles using reused water
• Conscious use of water and energy
